WordPress 5.2 “Jaco”

WordPress 5.2 makes it easier to fix your website if something goes wrong

Named after jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius, the releases features tools to identify and fix configuration and fatal errors. Site Health, that was introduced with WordPress 5.1, now includes two additional pages to help debugging common issues.

Other updates include:

  • The minimum supported PHP version is now 5.6.20
  • A new wp_body_open hook
  • More option to customise the Privacy Policy page

How to update WordPress

Please note: for this release you will need to update your PHP to version 5.6.20, as a minimum. WP Hosting customers can refer to our How to change the active PHP Version, active extensions and specific PHP directives within cPanel’s PHP Selector article for this.

You will be prompted to do so when you log in your WordPress admin area. Go to: Dashboard > Updates and click Update Now.

Alternatively, if you are a developer, you can download WordPress 5.2 and install it manually.
