WordPress releases version 4.9.7 to patch a media issue as well as rolling out a number of bug fixes.
Released as a security and maintenance update, WordPress 4.9.7 included a patch against a vulnerability and seventeen bug fixes, including:
- Taxonomy: Improve cache handling for term queries
- Posts, Post Types: Clear post password cookie when logging out
- Widgets: Allow basic HTML tags in sidebar descriptions on Widgets admin screen
- Community Events Dashboard: Always show the nearest WordCamp if one is coming up, even if there are multiple Meetups happening first
- Privacy: Make sure default privacy policy content does not cause a fatal error when flushing rewrite rules outside of the admin context
WordPress, in a blog post, encouraged website owners to install the new update as soon as possible.
To update, download WordPress 4.9.7 or go to your Dashboard and click “Update Now.”
Please note: The previously scheduled 4.9.7 is now referred to as 4.9.8.
